Lucie Rie talks and events

It's been a whirlwind here at Eiderdown Books HQ since the launch of the NINTH (!) book in the Modern Women Artists series on the brilliant Lucie Rie. Orders have been flying out to all corners of the UK and across the globe; a huge thank you to everyone who has ordered from us, or from one of our lovely stockists.

Since the book's launch in September, we've enjoyed some brilliant talks and events with the author Isabella Smith, starting with a very special evening at the Crafts Council Gallery in London.

Isabella was joined by journalist and editor Debika Ray for a fascinating conversation about the ceramicist, followed by a lively discussion from an interested - and interesting - crowd of potters and admirers of Rie's work.

Then in October, we headed to Bruton in Somerset for another evening with Isabella, this time in conversation with Eiderdown Books publisher Harriet Olsen. The event was hosted in the very beautiful Make Hauser and Wirth galleries on Bruton high street and despite the torrential weather, we welcomed a small and dedicated group to hear about Rie's extraordinary life and work.

In November we were looking forward to heading to Middlesborough for an in conversation and tour of the new Lucie Rie: The Adventure of Pottery exhibition at MIMA, but sadly Covid caught up with us and we've had to postpone to the New Year. The event will now take place as part of the next Art + Social evening on Thursday 2 February (more info here). We hope to see you there!
